The problem with the Bible is that it is open to interpretation, like your quote above. Thousands of people have died so that I may live in freedom today. 65,000 Canadians in WWI, 45,400 Canadians in WWII. The thoughts I have are of Thanks and appreciation every Nov. 11.
The Bible was assembled by men in 325 AD at the first council of Nicea. Men tried to determine what was or was not the inspired word of God.
For the Salad Bar Christians, I recommend the following web page from back in 2002.
Why Can't I Own A Canadian?
Quote:
Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

Don't get me wrong, there are some very valuable moral lessons to be learned from the Bible. I have a problem with Christians who take a stance on a literal interpretation of a passage in order to fit their moral views while disregarding the literal interpretations of the more ridiculous passages (aka Salad Bar Christians).
