Remember the stat -> 1 in 4...
1 in 4 people are carrying around an STI (or STD), most of you guys probably have one and don't even know it. Yes, HPV is considered an STD, even though the vast majority of people do not exhibit any symptoms and especially men, will never have any type of impact on them (hence importance of cervical cancer screening for all you women out there).
The 1 in 4 number taught to us in med school as well as associated pictures scared the crap out us... but I swear we forgot about it by the time the next party rolled around.. LOL
Key message - wrap it up! (and even that is not foolproof).
True story -> i told a pt he had herpes, and he was like "i always use protection". Then I asked what about oral?
