If there is one thing the media does well, it is stirring the pot. Unless the party whip keeps these MPs in line, the press gallery is going to be making beelines at them to see if they can generate a story.
But also, I think there is a chance this could end up like a one-night stand where the voters wake up the next morning wondering just what in the hell they were thinking. The NDP has to keep their misfits in control AND they have to prove to the public that they deserve to be more than a protest vote. That is part of the "mess" to which I refer.
And if the NDP should fail to move towards the centre, I would argue that a revitalized Liberal party could take a good percentage of that vote right back in 2015 even if the NDP limits the controversy. That, however, would depend on the Liberals addressing their own problems.
