You see that was top 10 in my let downs for the series. When they interviewed the writers, the writers stated that the castaways weren't dead and the Island wasn't purgatory, and they said that multiple times.
Then they completely dropped things like Walt and the comic book powers and other things.
Then I was intrigued by the idea of the two brothers in the last season as the battle between good and evil, and that was in effect pretty lame, and then they killed the man in black in about 10 seconds of stupidity.
The series was a let down because it was too ambitious and the Writers continually wrote themselves into a corner.
