The burial is out of respect for the billion + muslims in the world, not out of respect for bin Laden.

The point is there should always be a mandate for public confirmation. Politics is so full of twisting truths and sometimes making up lies that i think it's important to keep a least a discernible level of transparency. I don't want names of people, i just want to know what happened and how and i want a shred of proof here and there. Isn't that what being logical and rational is all about?
And your point about Bin Laden's burial being out of respect for muslims is a little off base. I'm muslim, I don't agree with killing innocent people, but i also don't agree with not giving criminals a trial, and giving questionable human beings an ISLAMIC burial. I mean seriously, according to the US, everything Bin Laden has ever done is against Islam and yet they think the average muslim would care if Bin Laden gets an Islamic burial? The only ones who would care are people who were loyal to him. In which case the US is appeasing them at the cost of alienating and enraging the average muslim.
