Our democracy existed just fine for over 140 years without the subsidy. It will exist fine for the next 140. It's not up to the tax payers to fund parties. It is up to supporters. Go donate to your party of choice.
Anyway, just got home, and this result is just unbelievable. This truly might be the most historic vote in Canadian history. To see the Bloc just utterly destroyed is worth the NDP opposition. And goodbye, American Tourist. Feel free to buy a Maple Leaf T-shirt or two on your way back to Harvard!
Congrats to Layton though. Don't like the guy. Don't like his politics. Don't like the damage he would do to this country. But man is a politician through and through, and deserves his moment in the sun.
