Spurs are being impaled upon the sword of poor finishing and sloppy, sloppy goaltending. Last season for Gomes looks like a one-off, now hes back to being his usual really poor self, and Spurs have no one they can really count on to pot a few. Every really successful team has at least one of those iconic front men that you can count on for a few goals, the best Spurs have is probably VdV. And thats not a knock on VdV, I think hes a spectacular player, but hes not prolific and hes a midfielder rather than a striker.
They need a striker who can finish and goaltender who can stop a shot from 30+ goddamn yards! Sorry, you can say the calls went against them in that game and be absolutely right, but if Gomes doesnt do his best 'Cloutier' impression then its a complete non-issue.
Newcastle, I dont know what to say, first of all, Liverpool were really poor in this first half, they must have given Newcastle what, 10-12 chances from corners and dead ball situations? And they did absolutely nothing with any of them.
Further, the Newcastle fans that showed up with shirts along the likes of:
- Carro££
- #9 = Judas
These guys are hilariously ignorant. The guy didnt leave for more money, the club sold him! You want to bitch at someone then bitch at Cashley.
As for the title, I'm really unconcerned about whoever wins it. I like seeing United once again be mostly ineffective against top tier teams, it really goes to show that you dont need to beat top 4 or 5 teams, you just have to consistently win against the minnows rather than draw, which is what United is good at.
As for 5th place and 'passing' Spurs, I dont care much for that either, If they play in Europe, okay, more games, more money, more incentive to invest in the club, but even Kenny basically put out a third string for Europa league games.
Luis Suarez is absolute money, what a signing. Hell, Kuyt and Maxi are like new players this season, well, Maxi for only 2 games, but hey, take what you can get. Was that a soft penalty? Certainly. I think Suarez got the benefit of the doubt because there were two other occasions in the match where he could have gone down in the box but he fought through and stayed on his feet, but holy crap that guy never runs out of pitch, the plays he makes on the goal line are unreal. That ball should have, by all rights, rolled out of play, but he saves it, gets around the defender and forces him into committing the foul in the penalty area.
