There were something like 2 million votes cast when that was the mood of the electorate. 34 million citizens less 20% for children, less another third for people not voting and those votes represent more than 10% of the total that will be cast.
By then you could see which way the wind was blowing though. I suspect there are a lot of NDP votes in those 2 million. There were also (I believe) a lot of advanced polling events held at universities and the youth vote is strongly with the NDP.

However, you could be right and the fact that there was record turnout for advanced polling could give the CPC an edge and also possibly save the Liberals from complete humiliation.

CPC definitely didn't like the advanced polls at Universities:

Quote:
The Conservative Party alleged that a special ballot held at the University of Guelph on April 13, 2011 could in fact be illegal under the Canada Elections Act, claiming that partisan election material was present. Elections Canada, who are responsible for enforcing the act, responded that the ballots were legal. The action by the Conservatives, especially after allegations that a party volunteer attempted to grab the ballot box in an attempt to halt the voting, was criticised by the opposition parties who accused the Conservatives of discouraging youth from voting.
