Regardless of all this, Layton's getting more of the limelight simply due to the sorry state the Liberal party is in. Layton's still spewing the same idealistic kumbaya stuff he has previous elections, except now, simply by default, more people are listening to him. Thus he's now getting called out on some of this pie in the sky stuff which previously went ignored because it was coming out of his mouth. Now he has to backtrack quickly (Bank of Canada coercion, Cap and Trade pollution policies) when pressed for details or an explanation and previous situations like this are suddenly more likely to be brought up.

When push comes to shove, its how many voters who previously voted Liberal who will now vote NDP. Just my gut, but I think more are swayed to NDP in these pols than who previously voted Liberal (or Bloc) then CPC, so that's where the Harper majority is won or lost. On Monday, when former Liberal voters are standing there, I think it will be tougher for them to vote orange than blue.
I got the connection. I see it. You are right, but I think it's silly. It's usual political nonsense and it disturbs me (as you can see). It would disturb me with any other candidate. (Well maybe not Gillies) We are all better than this. If there is a crime, then commit it. If not, let it be. The fact it's 16 years old is so stupid. A cop who wants to help. Yeah, there's no dirty cops...
