Playing the race card here is just so predictible. People fall for it everytime because a TV talking head like Whoopi Goldberg says so.

No doubt there is some racist morons out there...
...but I think the main reason people were interested in Obama's birth certificate came out of the fact that Obama came from relative obscurity to a national celebrity almost overnight. Of course people would be interested in the origins of their potential president. Obama has a very interesting, well traveled past.
I think this stemmed from genuine curiosity in Obama. With Obama's unpopularity however, more people have jumped on this bandwagon and would like to see him gone.
It's not the color of Obama's skin here, it is the fact that he is a bad president.
