What kind of truck do you need? A cargo van, or a 14+ ft truck? Budget has a promo called "Truck for a Buck" where it's $1 on Tue, Wed (and maybe Thu) at "participating locations" but it's 75 cents per km.

What I'd do is look into a one-way truck rental from Greaserville to Calgary -- and I think the only company who does it is U-Haul but you might get lucky and Budget or Avis will have them. Ryder does it in the US but not in Canada (Even though their trucks say "One-way" on them!).

The kilometre charges is what's going to kill you on a drive like that. I rented U-Haul one way and they give you a set # of kms (which actually are miles, so you get a 1.6x "bonus") and days to use the truck. The one-way trucks are fleet trucks rather than franchise so they're in far better shape. If you rented from Calgary, drove to Edm, and returned, you'd be looking at 400ish miles @ usually 50-99 cents per mile, and that's an extra $200-400 on top of the rental cost.

Good luck.

ETA- Just noticed you said you wanted a pickup. National at the airport rents pickup trucks, and every time I've rented from the "Emerald Aisle" it's been available at a mid-size price. It's a 4x4 Dakota (and they have a 4x4 Ranger as well). YOu have to join emerald club (free links everywhere on the internet) but you stand a chance to not get it. It's probably $100 per day but unlimited miles (I think). Take a look on say Travelocity for all the car rental companies and make sure you get either unlimited miles or you budget your drive into the miles.
