Living in the area, there is also (now completed) upgrade of the sewer system a few blocks north.
In the big storm in mid June 2005, there were a lot of drainage issues. The city wanted to do a pilot project a street over where they took out sidewalks and made bigger storm sewers as part of this overall plan, but pulled the plug last year.

Always wondered what that big space in NGP was originally planned for. The rest of the park has Pinic areas and playgrounds along with road or path access, but that massive space south of the homes and west of the road, where the ponds are going never has had anything, not even trees.
Maybe was proposed to be a rec centre? There are five schools in the area, and a shopping plaza as well already.
