Note the key point above; they will eliminate jobs; not fire teachers. Firing somebody means telling somebody they no longer have a job. But with an organization as big as the CBE they would have to have a turnover of more than 224 teachers per year. (Probably at least that many from retirement alone.) So what this means is they won't be hiring as many new teachers as they would like.

You're right...but how the job losses come about has doesn't really matter to most people. The public isn't mad out of concern for the teachers that would lose a job. The impact (i.e. class sizes - seems to be the biggest issue I'm seeing) is the issue for most people I think.
