Note the key point above; they will eliminate jobs; not fire teachers. Firing somebody means telling somebody they no longer have a job. But with an organization as big as the CBE they would have to have a turnover of more than 224 teachers per year. (Probably at least that many from retirement alone.) So what this means is they won't be hiring as many new teachers as they would like.
You are not wrong....however there will be teachers let go because there are not enough retirements for those already hired as temporary or substitute to fill.
