Minneapolis is 6 hours away. You've heard of the Mall of America? Valley Fair?
Go to lake of the woods, 2 hour drive from Winnipeg. Many NHL players own cabins in Manitoba and Northern Ontario. Winnipeg has some sick cabin country within a hour drive, sure it's not the rockies but some damn nice lakes.
