The average THC level of marijuana smoked now a days is 4-6% higher than it was in the 70's, because of crossing strains. The problem was people in the 70's had to get their top quality marijuana from Columbia, where most got swag from Mexico or outdoor crap. Luckily now a days, because of hydroponics, we can replicate the ideal conditions to grow marijuana in your basement or shed.

Actually I think that's true... stuff now is something like 5-6 times stronger then what it was in the 70's. Also it's been modified for the most THC content, at the expense of some other substances such as cannibidiol (which actually has some interesting effects and benefits).
