I am interested in the Freedom Trail for sure. I also heard you can do a hop on hop off bus tour which might be handy to get a better idea of what you want to see.

I've found that most big American cities have these tours.
I did one in Philly and it was totally worth it.
I can't speak directly to the one in Boston, but the concept is pretty good.
However, if it mostly just covers freedom trail, it's probably better to just walk it, as it's kind of nice to walk around the city.
