Seoraksan is amazing too, its touristy (for Korea..so not much). If you can, try and hike it... its VERY difficult, or you could just take the cable car up. I know at the top there is a little shop that sells the best pancake and brown sugar things... i dunno what they are but they are delicious.

Sokcho is pretty cool too, i liked staying at theJjimjilbang there, i dunno what it was called but it was one of the biggest in the area. The fish markets there are pretty neat too, you can get some good deals on seafood if you are into that sort of stuff.
