The condescending tone of "I'm fortunate enough" drives me nuts. We are fortunate enough that my wife doesn't have to work, but she still chooses to do so. That is what works for us.
There is no one way to raise a child. Many people with stay at home moms that were very involved in their development turn out to be nuts. And vice versa.
Sorry for the rant. Just tired of this attitude.

I will agree with Boblobla.
I think many of us do have two working parents due to the economics. I personally think that having a stay at home parent is a great way to raise children and holds many advantages over the alternative.
Many people do find it a "fortunate" thing to have the economic means to support this. I have no problem with people using this term.
