You have to understand just how little I ran at the time. I'm a little guy that was carrying about 15-20 lbs I shouldn't have been. Not brutally obese or anything, but more days than not I was sitting at a desk, going home and sitting on the couch.
The first day (if I recall) was run for 60 seconds, walk for 90. I found it pretty difficult which scared
the living hell out of me. I kept up with it though and that was about as tired as I ever felt. The difficulty was increased gradually enough that within a month I was running at a decent clip for about 15 straight minutes and not feeling exhausted when it came time to walk. A short time later it was a full 30 minute run and it felt great to look back a relatively short period of time to when I couldn't run a single minute without discomfort.
I used this app in conjunction with LoseIt (calorie tracker) and was surprised at how easy it was to lose weight. Just basic calories in vs. calories out. I took a strange thrill in entering a run and watching the graph of my daily consumed calories shrink. It turned losing weight into a bit of a game.
Once I completed the app and could run 5k, I graduated to runkeeper pro.
