I caught the Holland - Hungary match last Friday, and the rematch tomorrow in Amsterdam could be entertaining. Let's hope that Hungary intends to play instead of simply avoiding embarassment.

Oranje looked very strong in Budapest; the injuries to Robben and Van Bommel simply allowed Van der Vaart and Affelay to have a turn in the midfield, and the team didn't miss a beat. They were very fluid in their passing, and at times toyed with their oponents. In the build-up and with their wing play, they have learned to use their considerable speed. They also have become a very lethal counter-attacking team, an aspect of their game which was perhaps lacking in years past.

Spain can have the possession game that we taught them in the first place. Effective, but not exactly dynamic against modern defences. Dutch footbal is evolving as always.

"Aanvallen!"
