Yes the term "homophobic" is nonsense. It is just an intellectually dishonest way to disregard someones position without weighing the merits of what they say.

Do you have some statistical evidence that would show that gay people are more wise and compassionate?

Judging by the infection rates for HIV in gay men, they don't appear to be the most responsible members of our society. Perhaps any adoption board should investigate a gay couple's medical history to determine how responsible they are.

Also, shouldn't an adoption agency consider the difficulty an adopted child of a homosexual couple might have being accepted by their peers. You talk about what gay's "have been through" yet don't consider the fact that by giving custody of a child into their care you are possibly signing that child up for the same trials.

Single adults are not given equal opportunities to adopt with heterosexual couples because our government sees that the two parents home is a prefered climate for raising a child. I would suggest that a home with both a mother and a father is a prefered climate to raising a child in than one lacking either a mother or father.
