Actually, I don't know. Bettman said he wanted the decision done by the end of 2010, I do remember that. I wonder which 2010 he meant?

Sometime last fall, the league put a deadline of the end of December 2010 to
identify a potential owner. i.e.: if Glendale hadn't found anybody by that point, the league would have to consider other options. Glendale found Hulziser before that deadline.

I doubt the league has any interest in owning a team again. This was a very special case necessitated by what the league felt was a direct assault on it's ability to control how it does business.
Under normal circumstances, I think the league only takes over another team if the existing owner simply hands it back over.
