^No. There was notice of the closing of the at-grade access at the south end of the platform (which includes the handicap access) a few months ago. However, the notice for the closure of the whole station wasn't until about a week prior to when it closed. HeartzofFire is right on that one.
It's unfortunate for people like him but due to the layout of the station, the construction methods on the original platform, and the nature of the work needed to be done, the station had to be closed. Expect similar for the rest of the south line stations save for Canyon Meadows, Fish Creek-Lacombe and of course Somerset-Bridlewood and Shawnessy which don't need to be extended.
