Just to expand on that, you might want to download a program called a network stumbler, which allows you to see all of the available wireless networks in your area and what channel they're on.
Channels 1, 6, and 11 are the only channels where there is no overlapping frequency so it's best to set your wireless router's channel to the least used of the three. So start up that network stumbler (NetStumbler for example) and then find out which of those three channels is the least occupied in your area, and then set it to that.
