I'm not a huge Phaneuf fan or anything, but I feel like people hop on the "he's rude/a jerk/etc." bandwagon pretty quickly, sometimes. Personal experience of him being one is different, but whenever I've seen him, he was (except the aforementioned 'quiet' encounter) really chatty, great with giving kids pictures/autographs/whatever.
