I agree, this isn't close to Chernobyl, but there is a whole other level that people go to when it comes to the words nuclear accident.

With Chernobyl the biggest fear with the melt down was that the molten fuel would burn its way to the water table and that would basically have done it for major cities like Kiev as their water would have been highly radioactive.

The soldiers that were deployed were incredibly brave as were the fire fighters, but they were also lied to by their leaders, they had no idea how bad things were going to get for them.
