In this day and age great places don't stay secrets for very long, but are great nonetheless.
- Diner Deluxe (Bridgeland/Renfrew - Edmonton Trail)
- Red's Diner (Beltline - 4th Street)
- Big Fish (Bridgeland/Renfrew - Edmonton Trail)
- Vendome Cafe (Sunnyside - 2nd ave)
- Tubby Dog (Beltline - 17th Ave)
- Banh Mi Thi Thi (Chinatown)
- Rocky's Burger Bus (Some industrial park)
- Manuel Latruwe (Beltline - Macleod Trail)
- Jimmy's A & A (Capital Hill? - 20th Avenue NW)
- Dairy Lane (West Hillhurst - 19th street)
- Kawa (Beltline - 8th Street)
As for liquor or wine stores. Well you will enjoy privatized liquor a lot better than the LCBO in Ontario. Here you get some great people, very passionate about what they sell.
I'd recommend places like Kensington Wine Market (Hillhurst) or Ferocious Grape (Beltline).
