The only NHL'ers I've ever met were Shanahan, Lucic and Weekes. Weeke's was really nice, and talkative. I worked at Maxim magazine, and he briefly did a blog for us as the Devils headed into the playoffs.
I met Shanny on his first day of work @ the NHL offices. I was there to interview someone, and Shanny walks up and shakes my head. I did a bit of a double take, cuz I just thought he was some suit and then it hit me. He was very quiet...but nice enough.
Lucic was real cool, interviewed him about the winter classic only for him to get hurt shortly after. Poor dude. When I shook his hand, I felt like I was a little kid considering how huge his hand was compared to mine.
My friend has a great story of meeting Kasparitus after an Isles game, and doing donuts in the empty coliseum parking lot with him.
