These Fergie apologists just don't get it. It is fine to suggest that referee's get calls wrong and possibly influence the outcome of the match. I've heard that many, many times over the years. What he did was question Atkinson's integrity and professionalism, which you simply cannot do. Sure it was possibly one of the biggest blunders of the season, and Atkinson most assuredly knows that now. But was it his intention to deliberately and maliciously subvert United's chances in that mach? Probably not. So to question his fairness and integrity was completely out of line. Had he said that he got it completely wrong and that call probably changed the course of the match and cost his side the 3 points - good on him; that is his right as the manager. What he did was absolutely not OK and there is no explaining it away. He deserved the 5 match ban. Maybe next time he'll try to engage his brain before embarking down the path towards yet another refereeing diatribe.
