I'd have to disagree, this girl/her family wanted a short cut to fame/fortune/celebrity, so they threw money at it, they opened themselves up to all this.

I actually agree with the author of that article: the behaviour of many people on the internet is far, far more vicious than in real life where they are not anonymous and are accountable for what they say.
It's actually lamentable the degree to which the internet runs on rumour and opinion, and is flat out judgmental, merciless and vindictive.
That said, the song is proof that not just anyone can write a teen pop song.
