This is how I got my only (non photo-radar) speeding ticket on the Deerfoot. I was in the left lane passing a big truck and this black pick-up came flying up behind me, so I accelerated to get ahead of the truck and let the pick-up go by. Next thing I know, the truck throws on the lights and pulls me over. I would normally have been doing about 115 (not likely to get a ticket even though still over the limit), but he got me just under 130.
I really considered fighting that one.
I also learned that day that the cops drive Ford trucks (this was a few years ago when they first got the trucks), and that if you see a Ford truck without daytime running lights, there's a good chance it's a cop.
