Question for those Telus workers or advanced home users...
I was having trouble with the Telus hardware-
I have multiple wireless devices, a wired desktop and two TV boxes. I have the black modem and the silver d-link.
I couldn't figure out how to get my wired computer and wireless to share files (couldn't get them on the same network) so I got my own router (a d-link white)...
So I had the following set up: phone line into modem. Modem to switch. Switch to silver d-link (for tv boxes, since one is coax). Switch also to white d-link for computers and ps3/iphones/etc.
Everytime I would download torrents, my internet signal would drop out- but my TV signal would be fine. After phoning in about 10 times for help, finally it got escalated and the dude I spoke to told me that they only give you two IP addresses or something? Didn't make much sense...
But he advised that if I want to use the d-link white, to set it up as follows: phone line to modem. Modem to silver d-link. Silver d-link to d-link white. Silver d-link to tvs. Seems to be working fine thus far. IS it safe to daisy chain the routers in this way? I don't know why not, but I am not an expert...
Also- I've been watching recorded programs from my secondary tv box and every now an then it drops out and says to make sure all tv boxes are on the same network. WTF. This is a new issue since the latest software update (before facebook ap).
