Definitely brings back a lot of memories. Warcraft: Orcs vs. Humans was the first game my friends and I ever successfully connected via modem to play head to head. It was actually the demo, it came on a cd with some PC magazine back in the day. Probably 1994ish? We thought that was the coolest thing ever as this was a couple years before any form of internet was available in our small town. I still remember sending a message after the modem was done making noise and the game started. Something like "you there?"... and getting the response "Yep!" from my friend. Good times.

One night, again probably 1994 or 95, a friend of mine and I were hanging out and for whatever reason I was browsing through the Warcraft player's manual. The last page I believe had a sort of company directory of all the names of the people who worked on the game at Blizzard, as well as the company head quarters phone number. I suggested to my buddy "Hey, we should phone Blizzard and tell them their game kicks ass!" He agreed, but who should we try to get a hold of?

Looking through the names, there was a fellow by the name of Bill Roper. He was credited with doing the voices and we thought that was pretty cool so we gave it a shot. It was one of those "Enter the first 3 letters of the name of the person you are trying to reach", so we entered ROP and sure enough the system put us through to Mr. Roper. He answered with a "Hello, Bill here". We were 15 at the time, so it wasn't the most intelligent conversation. Basically it was "Hey man, we just wanted to tell you we love your game up here in Canada and great job on the voices for Warcraft!" lol, he sort of chuckled and gave an awkward "Thanks, I appreciate that." That was basically all I had so I said "alright man, that's all we wanted to say. Keep up the good work, we can't wait for Warcraft 2..." He cut me off and asks "Hey, what is your address up there? I'll send you guys a couple T-shirts!" Sure enough, a couple weeks later a package arrives in the mail with 2 t-shirts and 5 or 6 Warcraft 2 posters! Pretty good of him.
