it just comes off as bragging
although complaining about it being cold could come off as whiney and looking for pity. I think these things are more about feeling connected to others who also are also cold, makes it feel less bad if others are going through it too, and something to talk about. then someone comes in and tells us its beautiful where they are, and you can sense thier smirk as you read it. they aren't feeling our pain, only making our weather seem worse.
