If you were driving on a icy Deerfoot with your family are you telling me you'd feel as safe in a 2wd than you would in a 4x4? Stopping I agree it makes no difference at all, but while actually driving on ice you better believe it makes a difference. All 4 wheels having power is way better than having 2 wheels with power.

Sure, it helps, but really, its still 4 rubber tires on ice. You could easily lose control and like you said, you still can`t stop as you normally would.
I`ve seen idiots on glare ice in 4x4`s tailgating and just driving like morons because they think they have all the control they need. They don`t.
