I always quote that as one of the great little known films I have ever seen. The thing absolutely wreaks havoc with your melon, and leaves the viewer to try and determine what actually happened. FWIW I think it was an elaborate dream he was having as he was dying.
I love movies like that though where you are trying to figure out what is real, and what is the creation of someones mind.
Vanilla Sky is another movie like this I really like.
