No help for Defoe
The Carolina Hurricanes left their goaltender hung out a dried with no goal support tonight as the Hurricanes took on the Tampa Bay Lightning. Bryon Dafoe who was backstopped the Hurricanes to wins in his last 5 starts was dealt a loss as the Lightning were able to get 2 goals past the hot goaltender.
The Lightning opened up the scoring mid-way through the first as Martin Rucinsky scored his 5th goal of the season. Young rookie Corey Perry also tallied a goal at the 13 minute mark of the 2nd as the Lightning took a 2-0 lead over the ‘Canes
Alexander Ovechkin was able to add the lone goal in the 3rd putting the Hurricanes one the board and bringing the game within one. The goal marked the 13th of the season as the line of Ovechkin/Weight/Blakee continue to produce at a consistent pace.
The Hurricanes head to Pittsburgh on Thursday to face the Penguins and hope to rebound from the 4-0 defeat the powerhouse birds handed the ‘Canes a week ago.
