Apr 24, 1986 Calgary Sun Photo
This is my first post on the site so bare with me as I fight though it. I have been reading the site since early 2002 and must say that it is quite informative and at times very entertaining. At the present time I have explored numerous possibilities to try and solve my problem and have decided to try Calgarypuck as another one.
Short Version of the Story
My girlfriend and I have been together for over two years and as with any relationship we are finding more and more out about each other. Her family has never had any money and as a result she grew up in a less than fortunate situation. Her family could not afford a camera and that being the case she has very few pictures of herself as a child. However we were looking at the few pictures that her grandparents had taken of her and she had mentioned that she was in the Calgary Sun when she was 4 years old. The picture is of her and a few other children wearing sandwich boards (I believe that is what they are called) that are cheering on the Flames playoff run in 86. I have been to the library downtown and found the picture on Microfiche, however it is black and white and the film is scatched so bad that I can't even get a decent copy. I have called the Calgary Sun and they have no desire to look for negatives from 1986 and have told me they only go back 10 years anyhow. I have contacted the photographer that took the picture and he has informed me that the picture is property of the Sun and he doesn't get to keep many photos. I have searched the internet for other archives, but have come up with absolutley nothing. All the other public libraries do not have micro fiche.
Does anyone know of any other options that I could try.
Is the any other micro fiche in the city?
Is there a newspaper archive in the city?
Long Shot...Does anyone keep olds newspapers of playoff runs. (I did in '04)
I have been trying to do this the past month and I am/was hoping to get it to her for x-mas.
Please Advise,
