Default Flames take it to the Kings

The Calgary Sun

Flames 6 Kings 5

In what can only be described as a goaltending duel, the Calgary Flames survived the wild west shoot out with a 6-5 decision over the LA Kings.

During the warm up, Steve Yzerman, while trying to avoid an errand shot, bent down and tore his groin muscle. Stevie Y will be out of the lineup for about 4 weeks.

Flames Dave Scatchard potted 2 goals, Mathieu Biron added 3 assists, and a very boisterous Joe Nieuwendyk also potted 3 assists. Joe was overheard in the dressing room prior to the game calling a few guys out to look in the mirror and find some character. This is very uncharateristic for Joe Who but it seemed to have worked as the Flames picked up the two points.

Trade talks continued to centre around captain Jarome Iginla with a few teams making inquiries for his services today. At this point, none of the offers for Captain Jarome were what GM Axmann is looking for although one of them was very close.
Stay tuned.
