Default Lord British on what games can learn from Ultima Online

The full interview isn't posted yet, but some interesting words from Garriot. I totally agree, UO was so great b/c you had such a diversity of play style. These new games its RUSH RUSH RUSH to the end game so you can collect purps..

In UO building your character WAS the game. When you had finished tailoring his skills, which was always being tinkered with, you worked on his rep, or the other way around.. I remember going to certain places on the map knowing I would find a specific person there. You actually communicated in game, not /send or /guild.. you want to talk to someone? Well that guild banks in Skara, go check if he is there. No? Swing by his house. Still nothing? I know that he farms in LL room, lets check there.. I remember going to specific shops on purpose because I knew the quality of goods were better and priced more reasonably than the shop down the street..

Ultima Online was the birth and death of a true form of MMORPG..
