I managed to make it out there last week for the quarterfinals with Jankovic vs. Stosur, my first tennis event ever! What a great match it was, going all the way to a 3rd set tiebreaker with momentum shifts all over the place.
But to this point, I think the organizers at this tournament don't do a great job of initiating the uninitiated... it was my first live tennis match so I really had no idea what the etiquette was, when you could get up, go to your seat, etc. They really don't say much and nothing is written on the ticket itself (actually they take the ticket from you when you enter!).
Of course it doesn't help when the chair umpire speaks his awful english to a crowd of non-english speakers!
Not surprising the crowd was backing the Indian. There have got to be more Indians in this country than any other nationality, including Emiratis!
