Jesus Christ, nobody said old music is irrelevant. It's not like the options were Led Zeppelin or Metric and the NHL chose Metric. The options were likely Metric, other current but likely smaller Canadian bands, or washed up CanCon bands from the 70s and 80s who were never that good to begin with (i.e. Loverboy, Kim Mitchell, BTO, etc.).
