Let actual music fans discuss the quality of bands that exist outside of your tiny, tiny, minuscule little universe and you can just tune back in to CJAY 92 for the rotation of 8 bands you enjoy. The fact that this thread has even gotten to 11 pages is a disappointment. It shouldn't be any type of controversy that Metric played the heritage classic. Its irritating that people are so closed minded.

I haven't listened to CJay in 10 years .....at least. And just because I haven't heard of Metric, doesn't make me a non music fan, or closed minded, it is simply not my genre. I just finished watching the replay, of the game on my PVR, and you know what, it wasn't that bad. Would I go and buy an album?.. no, just not my sound.
I could probably chime off 10 metal bands a lot of posters here have never heard of, every Iron Maiden or Judas Priest Lyric ever written, or every single fact about what gear Geddy Lee or Steve Harris has used in the last 30 years, and just because you cannot do the same, it does not make you less or more of a music fan. I grew up on Metal, british being my favorite, and those guys happen to be the gods of my musical universe.
Arguing if those guys are not relevant to the music scene, and questioning their talent, is probably not a very wise decision, as some of the best guitarists and drummers in the history of music, came through the 70's and 80's metal scene, and that is simply not debatable.
However, not knowing who Metric is, does not make me a fair weather music fan. I just means I have never heard anything they have written or performed that made me ask the question ,"Who is that band, and where can I hear more of them?"
