Pretty sure it isn't just Westerners that are fundamentally opposed to that. Most of what I've read in this thread suggest CPers don't want radical minorities to institute obviously discriminatory and archaic laws in our society.

My parents came to Canada in 93 during the midst of the Bosnian war.I have a little brother and bigger sister who have adjusted quite well here in Toronto. I think that's mainly because Ontario is accepting more and more immigrants from diverse cultures and the racial crimes have cut down a lot.
But reading some of the comments involving curry and common stereotypes like picking noses and not showering really makes me never want to go to Calgary because of how I may be viewed there.
