I would say on average I get a little bit of attitude when I go to a restaurant with one of the "deals." I still like doing them, even if I don't know the place, since it gives me an excuse to try something new, although I've definitely gotten more selective about which ones I actually buy (hard look at menu/location). One waitress gave me a real hard time about "making sure I tip on the whole amount," which I always do. (I actually usually tip an extra 5% when I'm these deals.) I get that some people probably short the server, but giving customers attitude about it is probably not a good long term plan for higher tips.
