Look at the TV ratings. The hype machine by the NFL is obviously working. Why wouldn't they take advantage of the huge ratings and milk as much advertising revenue as they possibly can?

Now if I was watching the Super Bowl at home I would find the extra commercials annoying. However, I'm usually at a house party with lots of other people. I take the extra commercial time to talk with my buddies, grab another beer, stuff my face, visit the bathroom, make sure the kids arn't trying to kill each other. I hardly noticed the extra commercials on Sunday.
