I find cops are too inclined shoot before exhausting all other options.

A bat, and a knife are dangerous no doubt, but they are limited by the reach of the suspect.

I guess my opinion is clouded after seeing so many videos on youtube of cops shooting people with knives even when they are not physically threatening anyone with them. I have even seen cops shoot a wheelchair person who was holding a knife.
