If there is one thing the natives will fight for, it's burial grounds. Understandably so. I wouldn't want my dead relatives plowed over for some road.

Just build it on 37st already. Never mind screwing the Natives, screw Lakeview.
Isn't there a casino on the "sacred burial grounds"?

I think the Lakeview residents actually affected by the road want it to happen. If the city knocked on anybody's door and said, we will pay a premium price for your home and pay for your move do you think there would be much pushback?

There are about 80 homes along the affected route in Lakeview. 160 if you really need space. Even at a million dollars each, that's not even half of what the reserve wanted.

160 million for Lakeview homes which will go back into the Calgary economy as real estate purchases in the city compared to 500 million for reserve land which we will never see. Some of the Lakeview purchases may even be downtown condo's which is exactly what the city wants.
