The CNN report got it mixed up a bit, if it's the shelter I heard about. There was a shelter with 500? people in it, as the cyclone got close the Red Cross woman managing the shelter decided that it wasn't going to hold up, and moved everyone to another shelter. Luckily.
The places nailed by Cyclone Larry are the same places that took the brunt of this cyclone. Small consolation to those poor people, but it could be considered lucky that the worst part of the cyclone went through those rural areas instead of Townsville or Cairns.
Was Category 5 at landfall, and is down to Category 2 as of a couple of minutes ago as it goes inland and loses power.
Not much into yet on damage, as the winds are still too strong for news crews to get out on the ground.
